How much is too much to tell a child?

Earlier today I saw a facebook post on the fb page of Stepmom Magazine. It was concerning how much is too much to tell a child concerning the custody issues between their parents. While the conversation is extremely value, we began to wonder and have a discussion about how the advancements in technology affect that issue. Teens (and in some cases children) have so much access to the internet and while a parent may be indeed protecting their child while giving limited information, does it become a trust issue when the child finds something online or in public records concerning the long, drawn out days of court battles between parents.

Here was our response to their inquiry bringing up our thoughts to their community to try and get some insight.
I have found that the information age and advancements in technology makes this topic more and more complicated. Considering that anyone who knows how to use the internet (and that age is getting younger and younger by the minute) can look at court cases and documents online. I have found that some of the daughters in our community (DADpr - Daughters Advocating for Daddy's Parental Rights) have become resentful with their parents for the protection that parents are providing by not spilling all the beans. Once they find out anyway, how does one deal with the fact that the child got the knowledge from public records on the internet and not from the parent themselves. We've discussed how this affects trust issues but haven't really come to a conclusion. Any thoughts?

What do you all think? We'd love to hear from you!!

Couragous Movie Trailer

This movie trailer brought tears to my eyes.

I had to share!

I hope it encourages parents to realize the need for children to have both parents in their lives. Having as active father plays a critical role in how children develop into who they will become as adults.

Enjoy!

Supportthemovie.com

Today as I was taking my daily stroll through the land which has become a reality for more than half Americans (Blended Family communities), I found a website that discussed a new movie/documentary that will be coming out in 2012, called "Support?System Down."

The movie is a film by Aginelo Entertainment and after watching the trailers, I am convinced that it will shed some light on what many parents go through when they fall victim to family courts. It seems like it will be an insightful and informative film and I am honored to be a supporter.

Here are some bullets shared on the ANCPR website about what the movie reveals:
* New never before seen footage and interviews that will shock you.
* Also- are the Judges tainted? Find out when one steps down after we interview her and found out she was allegedly receiving some form of incentives the more she sent guys to prison for child support arrears. On
top of that the state even denies she ever worked there….you can be the judge now!
* We cover the exorbitant amount of money that goes into creating so called “dead beat dads” at a time when our politicians are looking for budget cuts and the tax payers are footing the bill.
* We have revisited the way the non-custodial parent is basically forced out of the child’s lives by having only 4 days a month of parenting time and becoming a “visitor” in the lives of their own children.
* Who our we really Supporting here ?
* When does the “pay before you play” with your kids ever end?
* Military – We cover the military troops that fight for our freedom only to come back and find they have been wrongfully named biological fathers becoming victims of paternity fraud then ultimately stripped of
everything they own while they were away.

National Parental Alienation Awareness Campaign

Step Families Unite April 15-30 in the National Parental Alienation Awareness Campaign

An organization that I support, West Coast Step Families, created this flyer as a way to get the word out about Parental Alienation and on April 15 thousands of us have pledged to pass the flyer along, either in hand or by email to those we know in order to get the word out about this very real, and very relevant issue affecting millions of children in the US and worldwide.

Please join us in our efforts to support this cause.

The flyer says to give to two people but of course we know that we can email to many more. I encourage you to join the DADPR project and West Coast Step Families in spreading the word on this issue.

If you have any questions, need resources, or want to help, please feel free to email the DADPR project at DADPR@tamekacooksey.com.

Also, We'd love to hear about the creative ways you spread the word. Did you give to a friend, pass out at school, leave some in the break room of your job? Let the DADPR project know what you did to make a difference! We want to hear about it...... and we are here to support you!!

If you are not able to print the flyer, it is available here in PDF form.
